4 / Stay Natural and Vary

If there are indeed two words you need to remember in this article are the words “NATURAL” and “VARIETY”.

That does not mean your Netlinking strategy has no place and that your links should all be generated naturally and spontaneously … This simply means that your Netlinking should not be suspect, momentary and exaggerated.

5-13) The Digg Like

There are many tools to analyze your incoming links, here are the tools I use (or that I was using) and why I use them (in random order):

6-1) Webmaster Tool

Free tool to everyone like all Google analysis tools … It will not allow you to analyze the competition, but you have accurate data compared to your backlinks. You can easily export including inbound links to deepen your analysis.

6-2) Ahrefs

MY favorite (even if it is not enough by itself to have a full audit) … There is a free version but it is very limited (maximum 3 analysis areas per day and list truncated backlinks) compared to the paid version .
This site allows you to analyze:
the number of backlinks to a page or domain
from which these backlinks come (pages, domains, IP …)
Evolution and the history of the number of backlinks
new backlinks and lost backlinks
anchors used
attributes follow / nofollow

6-3) Majestic SEO

A good tool (similar to the previous level of analysis) that I like, but unless Ahrefs for two reasons (the ergonomics of the service and reliability of results) …
It will allow you to analyze:
your Netlinking since the launch of your site and then in the last 90 days
the number of pages or referring domains
the total number of backlinks and evolution
the variety of inbound links (nofollow / dofollow, IPs …)

6-4) SEOmoz Open Site Explorer, Raven Tools SEO Spyglass …

I will not mention all the tools available on the web but you can also use:
Open Site Explorer (part of the suite of tools after SEOmoz).
SEO Spyglass (software to install on your PC. It is part of the suite “SEO PowerSuite” that I use for analysis of keywords ranking in the SERP via “Rank Tracker”)
Raven Tools (part of a series of Raven that can analyze your online activities. I am not a fan of the presentation of data)

7) Be organized and plan their Netlinking

As we said at the beginning of the article, the backlinks should not appear suddenly but your acquisition rate should be natural and consistent. That is why it will be very useful to get organized for planning the Link Building activity.

At first it is normal to have a peak of backlinks (do not overdo it though) because promotion is more intense at the launch of a website but once the introductory period is over, calm down, be moderate and regular.

To help you not to stress over your Netlinking, simply to plan its work to master it (not 100% because there will be many natural backlinks fortunately made by people who spontaneously bind you).

If you have advanced skills and want to save time (and money), I advise you to create fabulous Macros oriented SEO (which make me personally a great time saver), but for this we must have a good foundation to create (or call a specialist ;-)) …
There is also software that allows you scrapers, spinner, publish, plan more automatically (Scrapebox, Senuke X, Xrumer, Sick Submitter …) but beware! Do not go without knowing what you do, this could be irreversible …

How to make a calendar to schedule these backlinks?
Each his method and mine is probably not the best but I have my Excel file with a first tab on which I have the following columns:
all URLs from my website,
the level of the page (1st, 2nd, 3rd, …),
his mother page,
the anchors that may be used for the link.

A second tab with other columns:
Date or week (when the link will be generated)
URL of the site referred or empty box if it is determined at the time,
Typology (satellite site, directory, forum, social, digg like …)
URL placing
Anchor place
Verification (I put a cross in the column once it is done)
